It was donated to a charity auction. It had the dualport engine, only 1 tire that had air and wasnt ruined.

Steve went to the auction about 7 years ago and bid on it for us, I was at work and could not attend. And I was amazed he was able to buy it for such a small sum. Although I hjave bought 28 other old VWs for small sums of money over my career of buying VW's and playing with them. I was told members of the local VW club knew the splitty was there but it hadnt been auctioned for so long as the auction obtained the title that none of them were aware it was finally being sold and my brother had no VW bidders there to bid on it. He said one other bidder made a bid after him because he couldnt believe only 1 person bid on a vehicle!
